How would you apply Sociology to the study of the Holocaust.?

Please no sarcastic answers as the study of the Holocaust is a very serious matter. How would you apply Sociology to the study of the Holocaust.?
hmmm iv hada think and it seems pretty hard to apply sociology to the holocaust, but iv got a few ideas..

u need to look at what different sociologists say about society and then apply this to the holocaust

for example, Durkheim, a functionalist, says that everything in society works together to create a consensus and therefore a happy society. she claims that all bad things happen for a reason, in order to make society a better place....hence the holocaust happened for a reason (although what this reason was, i find it hard to see)

i hope this helps? why dont u get a few books about the holocaust out from the library and have a read, and also a few sociology books, and see if u can find anything u can apply to the holocaustHow would you apply Sociology to the study of the Holocaust.?
You could discuss it in terms of mania....Did the people involved in persecuting and participating in the genocide of the Jewish population have valid reasons to fear and act upon these fears, or was it the rhetoric and propaganda that incited a manic response from one social group to the next?
