How would you apply the sociological perspective to a trial for reckless homicide?

I'm not really considering society as a whole. Mostly just the families and individuals involved. I think I know how to do this, but I'm starting to confuse myself a little. How would you apply the sociological perspective to a trial for reckless homicide?
The sociological perspective would consider that the effect of pressures and inequalities of society were so great as to make the person behave out of the ordinary.

What could this person's specific pressures be:

underemployed

racial prejudice

Well, the answer would depend a lot of the specific circumstances of this trial. But generally speaking, the conflict perspective would focus on power inequalities between the rich and the poor. The Symbolic Interaction Perspective would focus on how humans ascribe meanings to symbols in their environments and how these shared meanings help explain behavioral outcomes. The functionalist perspective would try to determine whether a societal practice or behavioral trend is functional or dysfunctional. If functional, they would ask what need it fulfills in ensuring social stability.

To be more specific, one would need to have information about this trial.
